I always love to hear a mountain in a new track. Stable tones, thick deep rumbles, sliding harmonic landscapes.
Paul Revere, and yes, that name is on his license, is of the mountains, of the aspens, of Carbondale, Colorado, one of those down valley mountain towns that more than make up for the clichés of Aspen. A guitarist from his first sunrise, Paul Revere uses styles of mid-century rock and folk, layered over modern sounds, sometimes most at home playing away through the wilderness.
All the musical influences are in Paul Revere's music, all of them. From experience with the man himself, I know there’s not one specific genre directly leading the music. Electronic sound is core in Paul Revere's music, but the significance of the guitar and vocals is never lost. Paul blends a steady guitar in his sets with a voice worn like well oiled leather. Consistent song structure, style, and format, maintain an ongoing track direction, a direction always coming from the woodlands.
Forged with a guitar, MIDI rig, and microphone, Paul engages the audience with sound in a set that could intermission into an acoustic jam as quickly as it runs back into a bass set. Accomplished guitar and years of practiced musicianship represent Paul Revere’s nucleus in acoustic instrumentation, but, Paul has created a wilderness world of developed sound design and sinky bass. HIs space is in middle, between the earthy acoustic strings and raw digital . Quick atmosphere is accompanied by additions of bass, drums, guitar to create a world of sound within the first few bars.
Simple, less bass heavy tracks are the original identity of Paul Revere. That is where it all started. The electronic music is the sound 10 years on whereas the acoustic sound is the original Paul written at home, at home in the woods or the creeks or the canyons or the snowdrifts.
His electronic cuts have deep bass heavily influenced by original gangstas of the craft like Ill Gates. Each piece is a part of a forest mystery, like a dark low frequency sound animal with acoustic eyes focused under the vocal moonlight. Songs are inherently designed with movement, never ones to maintain a single beat, tempo, or adjustment. Sets will bring you all the way up to tip toes and deep into the ground of our mother earth.
Drums bloom in wide, open song plains but neatly contract with fenced in low bass tracks. Sparing use of vocal samples provides a worldly, natural attitude when necessary. The vocals, natural guitar sounds and the man himself make the sound unique and individual in the current Colorado music space
Revere’s rap flows feel like an almost alternate ego of the true Paul, that true revere that wants to let us all know the music is coming. His harmonic vocals convey a mood, a sensation, his rap vocals convey a story, an intimate narrative song.
Paul Revere - Folksy electronic sounds made by a mountain man straight outta the woods. It’s the music you hear while bumping alone as crunchy beat needles break with each dance step, a cold, crisp sound breeze. Mountain. Bass. Music.
